Don’t you hate it when you go to visit your doctor and he tells you that you have to lose weight? I mean I know I had been increasing slowly over the years, but I never expected him to tell me that I needed to lose almost forty pounds! I was shocked, I don’t mind saying. We all know what it’s like when you have to undo the belt another notch, but I think we all manage to fool ourselves that we could still get into the pants we used to wear twenty years back.

I still have a pair of those in my closet and when I got back from the doctor’s, I decided to give them a try. It was just as well that I was in the house on my own at the time, because I must have looked a terrible sight as I struggled not to do the button up, but to even get them up my legs in the first place! No longer could I fool myself that I was only a few pounds overweight and that I could deal with it in a week or so.

So what did I do? I thought I would have a blow-out of all the ‘nice’ foods in the cupboard and fridge and then go and get some healthy grocery shopping in. by the time I had worked my way through it all, I reckon I had probably gained another three or four pounds, but I thought that it really couldn’t make a lot of difference at that stage.

When I do something, I do it whole-heartedly and so I threw myself into being ‘healthy’ with my usual abandon. Gone were all the fattening foods to be replaced with salads, vegetables and lean protein, and I also decided that I could go running. Oh my God, was that a mistake! I had probably only gone about half a mile when my back and legs started aching. The problem was though that because I was away from home, I also had to get back.

There was no way was I going to let anyone see me walking back when I was dressed in full-on running gear, (you see, I did say that I don’t do things by halves,) and so I thought that I would just have to run back as well. By the time I got there, I was absolutely shattered and my back was cramping in agony. Now what? I thought to myself.

I took a hot shower and rooted around in my wife’s drawer until I found her Hitachi Magic Wand which seems like a regular personal massager. I’m not sure if this massager was purchased from your store but I wanted to thank you for creating such an amazing device. Oh the bliss, as the lead was long enough to allow me to run the Hitachi Wand all across my back!
